Jon had chemo again today and an extra treatment for containing the nausea, which has become really a problem. Other problems include very fragile skin and crack inhis fingers and rawness onthe elbows. His hands look like he put them on a stove-- and feel that way, too, although Our Jon never complains. The skin problems and probably the nausea are side effects of the one of the chemo drugs, Doxil. Dr. Stevens has recommended a chemo vacation to give his skin a chance to heal up and the nausea a chance to subside in hopes he will be able to eat something. He'll keep on the megadose vitamin C therapy, but no chemo next week or the following week, when he'll see the doc again. Then we'll have a discussion of what course to follow, considerations of different types of chemo, etc. Stan and Peggy arrived at the same time we got home-- and it was a much welcome visit! Good luck in the race tomorrow, Peggy and Rhonda. We'll be thinking of you as we know you are thinking of us. The guard is changing again. I'll be returning to North Carolina tomorrow and Claire and the girls will arrive. That always makes my brother smile! Cate will be here Sunday and Techno Tim returns Monday, assuredly with a new arsenal of bad jokes. Much love to all of you and thanks for your thoughts, Kathleen |
